DBS Horse Auction

Doncaster Bloodstock Sales (DBS) took over the Centaur after an enjoyable days racing on Friday the 9th of December to host the second DBS National Hunt Breeze-Up Sale. Taking hand picked National Hunt racehorses of the future, DBS undertake to provide the potential purchasers with an event they will never forget, and hopefully will never regret...

Value, Service and Success...

Are DBS' promise, and Production:av worked to beat there expectations. Interfacing with the system that Production:av supplied for the relay of the racing during the day, the brief was simple: provide lot information, video of the 'Breeze-Up' from earlier in the day, and a bid counter that followed the bidding action.

Using an Analog Way Eventix seamless switcher allowed for PIP insertion of both the video, and the custom written software for the tracking of the bids. Operation was undertaken by a team that worked unobtrusively, dealing with late alterations as information was relayed to the auctioneers. The auction took over two hours to complete, requiring concentration throughout to make sure that none of the bidding was missed. Previous to the auction, Production:av also facilitated the buyers the opportunity to view the lots they were considering.

To allow for the bid value to be displayed on the screen, a custom program was written. Running on a laptop situated near the auctioneer, an operator followed the bidding. Outputting an operator view and a screen view allowed for easy control of the system, and quick operation. The software performed flawlessly, and will be further developed for use at other events, as it has a built in level of customisation.

All in all the event was considered a success by DBS, improving on last years event, and setting the standard for next years event. Production:av were working for Event and Management Services.
