Complete Video Solution Rock Assembly 2017

Rock Assembly 2017 Video Solution 2

Our task for the concert was to provide the complete video solution which consisted of projection, LED screen, camera system and video control system. The 6.4m x 3.6m LED screen created using our Desay 6.25mm Indoor/Outdoor LED Panels was flown above the centre of the stage and was used for to display playback throughout the course of the show. On both sides of the stage, a Barco HDX W20 DLP Projector and its projection racking were erected to rear project onto a pair of flown Stumpfl 20ft x 11ft screens. The projection showed the live camera feed from four Sony HXC-100 HD Camera Channels positioned around the venue with the furthest camera from stage having a Canon XJ86X9.3 Box Lens attached to it to maximise the range of focal lengths throughout the show. One camera channel was shoulder mounted and was free to roam around the stage to diversify the visuals and the other two of the camera channels were elevated on the pit floor to provide close up shots of the performers but also rotate to capture the excitement of the groups of school children when they saw themselves on the big screen.

Our Video PPU housed the drivers of the show with the Barco S3-4K Screen Management System comfortably pushing the playback that was gathered and managed using a pair of our Hippotizer AMBA V4 Media Servers to the LED screen as well as the live camera feed to both HDX projectors. Vision mixing was performed using the Panasonic AV-HS400 Vision Mixer and control units for the camera channels were also installed so that engineer settings such as colouration levels so that the camera operators could focus fully on getting the best shots. Production AV were also requested to record the entirety of the show using our Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Studio Pro which was matched to a synced audio feed and then provided on SSD cards following the completion of the event.

Rock Assembly 2017 Video Solution 3

With The Vamps closing the afternoon off with a performance to match the frenzied energy of the crowd, Rock Assembly 2017 was over for this year. With 10,000 pupils from across England having the opportunity to explore career options and talk to universities at the Futures Fair before watching the concert in the afternoon, Production AV felt privileged to be a part of this meaningful and benign event. Thank you to GLS Lighting for selecting us as the video supplier for this event, we really appreciate working alongside you and look forward to the next one.

With the the venue shaped in a circle and delegates spread out at tables across the room, each of the four projectors enabled engagement from all angles in the event space. Cabling was run up to the wire grid that stretches across the room and back down to control that was positioned on a balcony above the main space.

Two Sony PMW-EX3 HD Video Cameras were operated by Production AV crew to capture the stunning dance performance by the New English Ballet Theatre that took place on a stage in the centre of the venue. The Royal British Legion – Remembrance LED Screen Installation

Remembrance LED Screen Banner

Production AV were feeling excited and privileged to be supplying LED screens for an event of real importance. Working on behalf of LiteUp Events we were providing the Royal British Legion with a Remembrance focused screen installation featuring four videos of young veterans’ experiences in St Paul’s Square, London.

One of the aims for the Royal Legion in this years Remembrance was to encourage people to “rethink Remembrance” as it is believed that younger veterans are often forgotten about and struggle to recover from the experiences they’ve faced during their time serving.  Within the video content, World War Two veterans read out, intensely emotional and hard to bear stories only to reveal they were not their own, but belonged to the four veterans featured in the rest of the piece. The Royal Legion were trying to “challenge common perceptions” and Production AV were very proud to play our part in making that happen.

High Resolution Outdoor 6mm LED Screen Charity Installation

Remembrance 2016 LED Screen Installation

Using our stock of Desay 6.25mm Indoor/Outdoor LED Panels, we created a unique LED display making five individual columns, each two modules wide varying in height from 2 metres to 4 metres. The intended effect was for each column to display it’s own separate visual content but also come together as a collective unit and display these intricate and eye catching displays that did a really good job at piquing the interest of the crowds of people passing through the square.

Content was run using  PlaybackPro Plus on an Apple Macbook Pro, which then was sent to the individual LED columns using our industry standard Barco ImagePRO II Dual which was well within it’s capabilities to scale the data being fed to each screen. Two Nova MCTRL660 Processors were also used to manage the screen with one being set up to act as a redundant hot backup to the main processor, along with a main and backup cable path.

As the screens were being put into a raised set, we were not using our standard ground support and provided a safe alternative solution using scaffold tubing of various lengths for the different size screens and created a secure supporting structure behind the screens which clamped onto the screen itself. Despite the square being fairly open to wind flow, the screens had no issues for the three days they were in use.

We would like to thank the four veterans: Anna Pollard, Ben Poku, Sam Jack and Stewart Harris for sharing their stories and for their service in protecting this country. We’d like to thank the Royal British Legion for their sustained and determined effort to continue providing support for our veterans no matter what generation they are from. Finally we’d like to thank LiteUp Events for choosing us to provide the video solution. We hope next Remembrance we can again provide our services to help illustrate the great work the Royal British Legion are doing.
