Promenading our new LED

22/08/2014 by petermccrea

DigiLED 3.9mm LED Screen Investment

The BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall was the first outing for our new 3.9mm pixel pitch, digiLED HRi3900 LED screen where it took pride of place, flown as the central 7m x 3m screen.

Integrated Team Work

The scale of the venue, and required location of the screen means that only the brightness and intensity of the LED will give the required hi-resolution images. Working as part of  SFL Group, Production AV supplied the LED screen delivered to site with technicians for the build and operation of the screen during the events.

SFL Group, who are the Royal Albert Halls’s preferred AV supplier, furnished the venue with four large projector screens powered by Barco HDX-W20 Flex 20k Lumen and Christie LHD 7k lumen projectors. The resulting quality of the images gave a cinematic quality that added to the ambience and ensured that the audience all had the best view in the house. Craig Lawrence, SFL’s Video & Projects Director, commented, “We were all blown away with the quality and performance of this new digiLED product. The fanless design, fantastic low brightness performance and great calibration make for a brilliant screen. ”

From flying to ground support, our new LED has been busy on corporate events as backdrop for awards ceremonies, as well as on television shows where it’s versatility has been utilised as 1m wide columns. Find out more about our LED Screens.

Nike Football Brazil Shirt Media Launch

Nike Football Brazil Shirt LaunchFull HD Projection Solution

With just 6 months to go until Brazil, the UK Media Launch of the new Nike Brazil Shirt couldn’t have been more important. The event was a slick multi reveal exhibition, designed & managed by Ear to the Ground; Production AV provided a full HD projection system and video playback solution.

It was an intimate launch for selected Media and young aspiring footballers held in the London Film Museum, Covent Garden. Nike Creative Director of Football, Martin Lotti and Brazil footballer, David Luiz, gave their views on the design process and insight into the innovative new kit.

Barco PDS Switcher

Using our Barco PDS 901 switcher and Christie Digital LHD 700 projectors, the event also showcased an interesting history of the journey of the humble football shirt, to its present day form.

Nike Football Hypervenom Launch

Full HD Projection Solution

The Autumn launch of the long awaited Nike Hypervenom football boot, managed by Ear to the Ground, was a very special event.

The location, a derelict Welsh Chapel in central London, provided a unique gritty backdrop which was taken over and transformed into a football amphitheatre. A custom football cage was built in the main space and the venue was transformed through the creation of an immersive journey for guests.  The launch staged a 2 aside knockout tournament, and involved putting 200 young footballers up against each other under the watchful eye of Premier League players Danny Welbeck, Daniel Sturridge & Christian Benteke.

Christie Digital LHD 700 Projectors

Using Christie Digital LHD700 projectors, Production AV projected the all important scoreboard onto the venue wall, as well as supplying large screen flat panel displays throughout the building.  On the lower floor there was a NIKEiD exhibition area which employed our Christie projectors to project specific Nike videos and images.

After the tournament, Headliner, Giggs, the London based rapper, ensured the Hypervenom atmosphere continued.

Cheltenham Literature Festival 2013

09/12/2013 by petermccrea

“The Literary Lovers Dream”

The Times Literary Festival reached its 64th year this Autumn and Production AV was pleased to provide the AV for the 4th year in succession.

Discussion and debate were enabled by our range of projection and backdrop screens which were supplied to the three main venues at the tented village, The Salon, The Forum & The Exchange.

This 10 day event always showcases some of the biggest names in contemporary culture, and this year was no exception, with such diverse names as Helen Fielding, Robert Winston, Phillipa Gregory and John Bishop.

Multi Venue AV Solution

Production AV was tasked with supplying 3 venues as well as other displays around the site in areas such as the Box Office.  The Salon offers a smaller more intimate feel, with an “in the round” style setting. Along with a centre screen we supplied plasmas flown on wing trusses to enable  a good view of the content from every seat.

The Forum is the Festival’s Flagship venue which despite its 1000 person capacity still feels warm and intimate. Here we supplied a Full HD system with remote controlled cameras going via an HD vision mixer to a Barco ScreenPRO II system to bring in Power Point and Keynote content.  This then fed a Full HD projector via a fibre system.

Cheltenham Festivals’ Postive Feedback

“Production AV provided a report order for the Montpellier site of the Cheltenham Literature festival.  As normal the installation and quality of the equipment was very high.

The quality and brightness from the new projectors was amazing, along with remotely controlled cameras leading to a very slick production.

We look forward to developing the equipment and specification that we use within the festival structure in the future with Production AV.”  Adrian Hensley, Cheltenham Festivals Technical Manager.

GreenBelt 2013 – Life Begins at 40!

Greenbelt 2013 – Life Begins at 40!

Or so the saying goes! And 40 years on Greenbelt is still looking and sounding great. Our 4th year working on site for Pure Solutions delivering site wide video systems and technical support, again went without a hitch.

Production AV – Site wide festival video supplier.

Greenbelt was slightly smaller in 2013 after the horrendous weather experienced in 2012, which left parts of the centre course in a poor condition. This year all the venues were located on the ‘Grandstand’ side of Cheltenham Racecourse, giving us a total of 15 venues, each with individual requirements, ranging from a single Trilite lectern through to a complete video system with Full HD projection and switching.

Being a Christian arts festival ensures that some of the worship and music venues have specific requirements, such as the ability to undertake keying of song words over camera or video images. In some instance we had to ensure the ability to support legacy input formats, and integrate them into existing infrastructure in the racecourse venues. Other venues, such as the film venue required the ability to show films at the correct resolution and colour. Working with Pure Solutions who draw together technical specifications for each venue, we deployed a range of hardware from our equipment inventory including Christie and Barco projection, Barco Image Processing and Panasonic flat panel displays to meet the requirements of each venues programming.

A great team

The equipment is nothing without the people to support it. Production AV provided an experienced team to instal the equipment and commission the completed systems. Technicians then remained on site providing an ‘on-call’ cover team to assist the festivals volunteer crew where needed.

As always it was a pleasure to work alongside the teams from Dobson Sound, GLS Lighting, and Power Logistics, the other site contractors. And again thanks to Pure Solutions for choosing selecting Production AV for 2013, and we look forward to continuing our involvement with the festival in 2014 and beyond.

Barco HDX-W20 Flex – 20,000 Lumen HD Projectors available for hire.

14/08/2013 by petermccrea

New rental Stock – Full WUXGA Resolution 20,000 Lumen Projection

HDX W20 Projector available for hire from Production AV Ltd

Production AV is happy to announce a significant investment into the Barco HDX Projection platform in the shape of the flag ship HDX-W20 Flex product, and TLD+ lenses suite.

Available from the 24th of August, Production AV will be stocking these units, along with the Barco TLD+ high brightness lenses , as well as new PDS901 3G switchers.

Designed for the Road

The HDX series has been designed for rental companies, by rental companies. Based on Xenon Lamp and DLP technology, the HDX W20 Flex offers up to 20,000 lumens of light output with the ‘Light On Demand’ function, but also the ability to be dimmed in 2000 lumen increments, giving unrivalled flexibility. Unsurpassed onboard processing gives great 3D signal handling, onboard Warp and image manipulation, with a built in preview screen enabling verification of the signal path without having to power up the projector.

With the available brightness and rugged nature of the HDX platform, these projectors are ideally suited to large scale projection mapping requirements, and high fidelity corporate presentations. The Xenon light source also gives great colour rendition, ensuring that these projectors will display film content as the director intended.

The units also feature BarcoLink technology, that enables the transmission of WUXGA signals (1920×1200 @ 50/59.6/60Hz) over a single Coaxial cable up to 100 metres. This can greatly simplify setup and also reduce cost, as there is no longer a need for the use of fibre systems over longer distances.

Barco HDX inputs

With the additional WiFi and GSM Mobile options fitted to our units, we have the ability to wirelessly control the projector, and also make adjustments to the units settings without needing to be present with the units – including remote brightness level adjustments over the cell phone network.

Weighing only 50Kg, drawing 12A approximately, and having low noise fans, mean these projectors are equally at home in corporate events of rock and roll touring scenarios.

Flexible Rental Options

Production AV will be offering the HDX at all brightness levels – 10,000, 12,000, 14,000, 16,000, 18,000 and 20,000 lumens to suit your requirements for both brightness and budget. The units come with 3G HD-SDI inputs and a universal input via a DVI connector. Should it be required, other input cards can be supplied.

We will also be supplying the units with a single point rigging bracket and standard Barco 4 point rigging hardware.

For the Barco HDX Series Brochure please follow this Link: HDX Series Brochure.

Pricing will start at £2500 per day (ex VAT) for the HDX-W20 option, with a sliding scale with each 2,000 lumen light increment, with lenses priced at £150 per day ex VAT, and working on a 3 day week.

Please Contact us for a quote for your next event, or to find out more details on these units, or any of our other rental stock.

Cheltenham Literature Festival 2011

20/11/2011 by petermccrea

The Cheltenham Times Literature Festival 2011

Production AV were proud to have provided Video Solutions for three venues on the Montpellier Gardens site for the Cheltenham Times Literature Festival for 2011. Providing Full HD cameras, Full HD vision mixing and data switching equipment to Full HD Barco projectors ensured the images were crisp and detailed.

New for 2011, The Times Cheltenham Literature festival moved to from a range of venues across the town to the new tented village on Montpellier Gardens on the edge to the town centre. Giving the Festival a range of new venues, from the intimate setting of the 300 seat Salon, through the larger Qwerty venue up to the flagship 1000+ seat venue hosted in a fantastic large temporary structure, the site provided a a new dynamic to the event.

The Forum

The video solution for the flagship venue on the site was centred around the 6m Wide Screen with Full HD Barco Projection fed from a Barco Screen ProII. The Other sources came into the Screen ProII at Full HD resolutions, including the camera feed mixed on the Panasonic AV-HS400 vision mixer, from our Sony Full HD EX3 cameras.

To assist with sight line issues and to minimise on the seating take for the high profile events, Production AV provided a hot head system to enable the cameras to be remotely controlled from the backstage video control area.

Our knowledge and experience in processing and handling Full HD signal paths meant that dealing with the long cable runs required in the venue is second nature for the Production AV team, so when adjustments to the build schedule were necessitated, it was no hassle.

Qwerty

The second venue that Production AV provided a solution for was ‘Qwerty’. Offering a slightly more intimate venue seating 300 people this was based on a more traditional but well dressed temporary structure.

The solution was based around a Standard 4:3 solution based on the Barco CLM R10+  10,000 lumen series projector fed a DVI signal over Fibre to ensure pixel perfect transmission of the signal from the array of sources such as laptops and DVD players from a Barco Screen ProII switcher.

The Salon

The smallest venue on the site was in some ways the most challenging, partly due to the fact that the seating was designed in the round to give the audience the connection to the guest speakers. Providing a solution based around Christie Projection and augmented with plasma screens hung on wing trusses to give better viewing angles for those seated round on the sides of the raked seating.

“Fantastic Working with the team from Production AV”

It was a pleasure working with the team from the Cheltenham Festivals in the run up to, and during the Festival. Feedback after the event from Adrian Hensley, the Festival Production Manager, was generous and glowing – “I wasn’t sure that everything was going to come together – New site, venues, contractors – a lot of unknowns. But the Production AV team were superb – you just got on and did exactly what you said you would do, and without any fuss or problems. It was a pleasure, and I look forward to working with the team from Production AV again in the future”.

We’re looking forward to being involved in 2012.
