SSE Wembley Arena – Seasick Steve Concert

14/12/2016 by petermccrea

Seasick Steve Wembley Arena LED Screen Solution

Production AV were delighted to continue working with Crosstown on behalf of Seasick Steve to provide a full video solution for his biggest ever headline show at the SSE Arena, Wembley. Having previously been the video supplier for Steve in his UK 2015 tour, we were looking forward to being back for his ‘10 Years Out Of The Dog House’ party that was promising great crowd atmosphere and funky guitar work!

Using our stock of Desay 6.25mm Indoor/Outdoor LED Panels, we built a 9.6m x 5.3m LED screen that was flown at the rear of the stage. As we were providing the full video solution, two Sony HXC-100 HD Camera Channels and a Sony PMW-EX3 HD Video Camera were positioned around the venue with the aim of taking the production quality to a new height with multiple live feeds running to screen. Control was set up in front of house and the live feed management was run using our Panasonic AV-HS400 Vision Mixer Portable Production Unit (PPU). Two Nova MCTRL660 Processors were used to manage the screen with one being set up to act as a redundant backup to the main processor. Scaling for the screen was handled by a Barco ImagePRO II Dual – industry standard due to it’s great processing.

The concert went exceptionally well, with the screen performing perfectly throughout the evening and our skilled camera operators not missing a moment of the exciting evening. Seasick Steve had an amazing performance, bringing people up on stage to sing with him made it a real party atmosphere and he managed to turn the arena into the most intimate venue. He also didn’t let his eccentric reputation lessen as he turned up to the venue driving a tractor! Production AV filmed Steve’s arrival at the iconic venue for playback on the LED screen, as well as introductions for the support acts.

It has once again been a real pleasure working with Steve and his team and we’d like to take a moment just to thank them for selecting us to provide the video solution for this performance. We hope that we’ll be back in Spring for his next one!

Bristol Harbourside – Grillstock 2016

11/08/2016 by petermccrea

Production AV were delighted to be selected to provide the LED screen for the main stage at Grillstock 2016 by Utopium.  It is safe to say we were very much looking forward to this event with the promise of sunshine, good music and a variety of delicious meats to consume! Being hosted at the Bristol Harbourside meant that it was a only a quick drive down and we were happy to be involved in a such a local but fun event.

Grillstock 6mm LED Screen

Loading in the day before the event began, using our Desay 6.25mm LED Panels we built a 6.4m x 3.4m screen at the back of the main stage. The screen was flown on a motorised truss system and was rigged quickly which allowed other preparations for the stage go unhindered. Set up on stage right were two Nova MCTRL660 Processors that were used to manage the screen with one being set up to act as a backup to the main processor. Alongside the Novastars was an ImagePRO II Dual which was used to feed content to the screen. Running a 100M fibre cable from the ImagePRO to control meant that Olie Goulding our onsite technician could position himself at front of house. This was important as he also was operating the Green Hippo Grasshopper Media Server which meant he could add layers and effects over the top of the content being fed to screen which allowed him to quickly match the screen content to the style of lighting the LD had decided on.

Grillstock 6mm LED Screen Flown

More than 14,000 people attended the BBQ-themed festival, with highlights including The Fratellis, The Stranglers, Cuban Brothers and a King of the Grill barbeque showdown. When the final band artist had performed, Production AV were there and ready to take down the screen with the same swiftness they had put it up. Using the onsite telehandler, we were able to fork down boxes of LED modules directly from front of stage onto the floor and load the truck from there. Having video kit off stage meant that a lot of space was freed up and Utopium were able to bring their lighting truss down and work with ease on pulling their kit out too.

A massive thank you to Utopium for selecting us as screen supplier for this event. It is always a pleasure working in your company. We hope to be back next year for more BBQ goodness!

Scarva – Sham Fight 2016

05/08/2016 by petermccrea

Production AV were once again back in Northern Ireland working for BNL to provide an LED screen solution for the 2016 Scarva Sham Fight. Over 100,000 braved the rain to watch the annual re-enactment of the Battle of the Boyne. It was a really honour to be apart of something that holds so much cultural importance to so many people.

6mm Outdoor Reenactment LED Screens

Back out were our Desay 6.25mm LED Panels ready to test their waterproof design against whatever the weather could throw at it. Two 4.8m x 2.7m screens were built at separate locations on site using Mobil Tech AlpTek 6.5m stands and truss to fly them off the ground. There were a pair of Nova MCTRL660 Processors for each screen with the latter acting as a backup for the main processor. Each screen also had an ImagePRO II Dual which was used to feed content.

On site for the length of the march was one of our LED Technicians who made sure the show ran smoothly from our end.  Endless streams of colorful, eye catching marchers lined the streets of Scarva playing a variety of instruments and in the end it was John Adair, who played King Billy, was victorious – again – on his 25th anniversary of acting the part.

It was a real pleasure to work again with BNL and we look forward to continuing to grow this working relationship with them. Thank you as well to Tourism Northern Ireland and the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Council for giving support to the big day.

Lurgan Park Festival – Queen’s 90th Birthday Party

21/07/2016 by petermccrea

Production AV were pleased to be selected by BNL to provide a LED screen solution for the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations hosted in Lurgan Park. Having done so little work in Northern Ireland in the past, Production AV were excited to work with BNL and provide a top quality service for the people of Lurgan to enjoy.

6mm Outdoor Flown Festival LED Screens

Travelling over the day before, we were on site early and were able to build the screens quickly using our Desay 6.25mm LED Panels, creating two 4.8m x 2.7m 6mm pitch LED Screens using Mobil Tech AlpTek 6.5m stands and truss to fly them off the ground. Two Nova MCTRL660 Processors were used to manage the screen with one being set up to act as a backup to the main processor. Control was set up below the stage where an ImagePRO II Dual was used to feed content to the screen.

An impressive line up for the evening concert included Rod Patterson Session Orchestra, featuring Siobhan Pettit and Aine Whelan with special guest George Jones performing ’90 Years of Music’ as well as award winning Lee Matthews, who recently won best songwriter at the Irish Country Music Awards. The night was ended with a fantastic firework display to end a special night for the Queen and country.

Our thanks to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council for hosting the event and a big thank you to BNL for choosing us as the screen supplier. We hope this is a beginning of a fruitful partnership.

Warwick Arts Centre – CCSG Awards 2016

6mm LED Screen - CCSG Awards Warwick

Production AV were excited to have the opportunity to provide an LED screen solution to first time clients, Warwick Arts Centre for their Campus and Commercial Services Group Awards night. It was a privilege to be chosen to enhance the visual impact of a night for recognising the contributions the CCSG make to the student, staff and visitor community and in enabling the University to achieve all that it does.

6mm LED Screen Awards Ceremony Solution

6mm LED Screen - CCSG Awards Warwick

Using our stock of Desay 6.25mm LED Panels, Production AV created a 4.8m x 2.7m centre screen which was flanked on either side by two 3.2m x 1.8m screens. The screens were flown on individual truss supports and used the Desay rigging bars and screws along with 1.5m soft steels and 3.25t bow shackles to balance and hang them safely. Using two Nova MCTRL660 Processors, meant we were able to have the centre screen as it’s own entity and could easily adjust the individual brightness settings to the clients request.

All content was fed to the screens using two Barco ImagePro II Dual’s that were conveniently placed out of the way back stage. All switching and mixing was done using the in-house hardware. All equipment was rigged on the morning of the show with rehearsals in the afternoon and the event in the evening. The screen worked flawlessly throughout the day and we were able to swiftly derig it at the end of the night.

Many thanks again to Warwick Arts Centre for inviting us to be apart of this special night and we look forward to working alongside your team in the future.

Ecclesiastical Group Leadership Conference 2016

14/03/2016 by petermccrea

Production AV were pleased to once again be chosen as the sole supplier to Ecclesiastical’s annual Group Leadership Conference. With previous years conference’s utilising a simple screen and projector with drape surround, the decision was taken to undertake a massive step up in the visual impact of the event and enhance the narrative of the numerous speakers throughout the day.

3.9mm LED Video Wall Conference Solution

Using our stock of DigiLED 3.9mm LED Panels, Production AV created a 7m x 2.5m LED Video Wall as the focal point of the conference. The 3.9mm LED Wall sat on it’s own ground support; raising it above the presenters stage for improved viewing. Throughout the event it worked seamlessly for numerous speakers with their own unique content requirements. The high brightness of the screen meant that the room could be well lit and the curtains remain open allowing the views out over the lakes to remain and be enjoyed by the delegates.

Using Keynote and Powerpoint, content was fed from various laptops provided by Production AV. Live video was also run directly onto screen coming from a Sony EX3 HD Video Camera positioned at stage right. All the source switching was handled by a Barco S3-4K switching system set up backstage with the Barco EC-50 controller allowing for easy recall of previously stored scenes.

Relay Flatscreens and Breakout Rooms

Alongside the large 3.9mm LED video screen, two pairs of Samsung 65″ Flat Panels were provided to ensure the delegates could clearly see the content in the long thin room. The four screens were set out on Unicol Parabella Stands along the length of the room in order to stop any loss of clarity for those sat further back.

In addition to the main session space, multiple breakout spaces were also provided with a mix of 50″ and 42″ Panasonic Plasma Screens to enable clear communications.

Sound and Lighting for Complete Conference Solution

As Production AV were providing the full conference solution, audio requirements were also covered in full. Sound was projected using a combination d&b E3 and QSub Loudspeakers driven by d&b D12 Amplifers. All the sources were mixed on the QU-32 Digital Mixer utilising the onboard dynamics and feeds to the various speaker sends. Sennheiser EW300 G3 Wireless Handheld and Lapel microphones were provided for the presenters during the day and also during the evening quiz. ETC Source 4 Junior Lanterns and Miltec LED Batten 2’s were also used to great effect throughout the event in creating the relaxed atmosphere aimed to be achieved throughout the conference.

All the equipment was rigged during the load in on the afternoon before the event, with a fairly typical schedule of rehearsals in the morning then moving through the conference sessions and into the evening dinner and quiz, to a post event load out handled by our experienced team of event professionals and led by our in house project manager.

A big thank you to Ecclesiastical for choosing to work with us on the show and we look forward to working together in the future.

Superdry Autumn/Winter16 for Tarren Production Ltd

20/01/2016 by petermccrea

Banner for SuperDry AW2016Complete Conference AV Solution

Production AV had the pleasure of working for our long term client Tarren Production Ltd on several parts on the Autumn/Winter 2016 launch held by Superdry in Cheltenham in early January 2016. SuperGroup used a disused warehouse near their HQ in Cheltenham, which was used for a catwalk show and after show party, as well as running a series of presentations in their new staff canteen adjacent to the new site.

In the Cafe space, Tarren Production contracted Production AV to supply a simple but complete production package of sound lighting, video and staging. Utilising d&B Audio Q7 and QSUB speakers, D12 amplifiers and Allen and Heath QU32 mixing desk to provide a full range sound system for the spoken word and presentations, video was taken based around a 12,000 Lumen projector and 16’x9′ screen for the brightly lit space, with a Barco PDS901 switcher for allowing a clean fade between laptops and video playback handled by PlayBackPro+ running on Apple Mac Mini computers. Simple lighting highlighted the presenters on the 3m x 2m stage that was set up in the venue. Olie Goulding was onsite to oversee the running of the event and ensure that the presenters could focus on their presentations.

Fashion Show Catwalk Monitoring

Over in the launch area, Production AV provided several small but key bits of infrastructure. For the catwalk, a pair of Sony PMW-EX3 cameras were rigged in fixed positions, then fed their Full HD signals back to 3 pairs of Panasonic flatscreen displays positioned to allow the show caller and dressing teams to clearly monitor the action on the catwalk, and ensure they timed the model entrances correctly. Whilst not an overly glamorous part of the show, quality of the image and reliability were critical to ensure models were able to time the show correctly.

Presentation Flatscreen Hire

In a temporary structure located beside the catwalk space, members of the Superdry team briefed different groups on the new Sports and Snow product lines. Within this space Production AV provided a large 65″ Samsung LCD flatscreen display to enable the presentation to be seen clearly by the delegates. Another small d&b sound system with a wireless microphone allowed the presenter to be heard over the background noise of the busy site.

Our thanks go to Tarren Production Ltd for asking us work for them on this event.

14/01/2016 by petermccrea

Production AV supplied the Nutcracker on Ice in the Royal Albert Hall with a Desay 6.25mm LED Wall.

The festive spectacular jointly promoted by the Royal Albert Hall and Lunchbox Theatrical Productions, welcomed the Imperial Ice Stars to the rink, chose a spectacular 13.6m x 5.4m 6mm pitch screen as a centre piece for the performances provided by SFL group members, Production AV.

High Resolution 6mm LED Screen

As part of the SFL Group, Production AV supplied the screen to the Royal Albert Hall for the run of performances over the festive period. A tight build schedule required that the screen build dovetail with the construction of the 4000sqft Ice rink and setting up for the orchestra. This was achieved to deliver the ground supported screen within the required schedules and with no issues. With the screen boasting over 1.8Million LED pixels, the content was fed to the screens over Lightware Modex fibre optic systems, and switched by a Barco E2 system. The tightly scripted show content was run from Apple MacPro machines running QLab, all equipment supplied from the SFL Group inventory.

Our thanks go to Mike Kane who looked after the screen for the successful run of shows.

From the 18th September to 11th October, Production AV maintained the screen which showed all group stage matches live and for free. Working alongside Peak Sound and Light supplier of the Line Array loudspeaker system, together we delivered high quality coverage for the many thousands of fans hailing locally and from across the world who came to enjoy what the Gloucester Fanzone had to offer.

Gloucester Fanzone Welcome Slide

Despite the disappointment for the English fans of England’s tournament being ended in the group stages, the Fanzone was a success with nothing but positive feedback. With the Wimbledon, World Cup Football and The Olympics all on the horizon let’s hope we’ll see Fanzone and the screen return for future events.

Commercial Group’s IT Hotshots

10/11/2015 by petermccrea

Cheltenham based Commercial Group provide a range of business services, including IT Solutions. In early November they held a ‘Shooting For Distinction’ event at Ian Coley’s shooting school on the edge of the Cotswolds.

Commercial Finished set Comp

Gloucestershire Audio Visual Supplier for local conference.

Production AV, Gloucester based Audio Visual supplier, worked again with Commercial group to deliver a high quality, simple but effective solution for the event. The venue was a marquee to adjacent to the mains school and shop buildings, which required a high brightness solution to combat the high ambient light levels, and also work round the lack of space available for projection.

Compact Full HD Audio Visual Solution

To take up as little space as possible Production AV supplied a Samsung 65″ LCD screen, built into the custom set. Content was fed from a pair of show laptops running PowerPoint via a Barco PDS switcher to give the ability to seamlessly switch between sources, and fed to the screen over a fiberoptic cable to ensure that the quality of the signal was of the highest possible level.

Audio was handled in the space with a range of equipment, namely d&b Audio for the speakers and amplifiers, Sennheiser G3 series Radio Mics and a mixer from Allen & Heath.

A simple lighting package was employed to provide uplight to both the set and the rest of the space, along with profile lanterns for lighting the presenters whilst on stage. Production AV utilised LED Par Cans, combined with ETC Source4 Junior lanterns, controlled with a simple desk and Zero88 dimmers.

Set, Stage and lighting.

Production AV supplied a compact set tailored to fit within the available space. Making use of stock flats, along with specifically built components, the 65″ screen aperture was created. The whole set then had a custom printed wrap applied to give a smart appearance in keeping with the Commercial Group image.

Production AV also supplied a carpeted stage alongside the set for the event.

Onsite for the duration of the event, Production AV also supplied an experienced and friendly technician to assist with all the technical aspects of the conference.

If you have requirements similar to this, where you require a full solution, or maybe just support in one aspect, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us, and we’d be delighted to offer a quotation for you.
